Welcome to the web page for the 6th Senatorial District. It is an honor to serve as your Senator in this district located in the north-western part of the State. The 6th Senate District stretches from the City of Newark along the state line and includes parts of Corner Ketch, North Star, Hockessin and Yorklyn.

In 2008 I am up for re election. I am a strong independent leader committed to serve and protect the people of the 6th Senate District. I listen to you and I work for you. Schools That Work
A former school teacher, I am committed to making our schools better. That’s why I was instrumental in creating school choice for parents, making sure our tax dollars are spent in the classroom instead of on bureaucracy, and efforts to improve early childhood education and kindergarten.
Affordable Healthcare
It's simple: to make healthcare more accessible, we have to make it more affordable. That's why I am working to reduce costs, provide tax credits for health coverage to small businesses and the self-employed, create healthcare purchasing pools, and reduce the insurance companies' red-tape that drives up costs for doctors and patients.
Protecting Our Natural Resources
I want to ensure our natural resources are preserved for generations to come. In the Senate, I supported off-shore wind power initiatives, helped to preserve open space in the White Clay Creek and Hockessin areas, and continue to promote sustainable energy initiatives.
Open Government
As the Minority Whip in the Senate, I have always been committed to open, transparent and fair government - with no "desk drawer vetoes."
